D.J. KNUCKLES
Currently travelling all over the world as the deejay for Hot 97's own crowd motivator, Fat Man Scoop as well as acquiring consecutive bookings at some of the most infamous hot spots in the nation, D.J. Knuckles a.k.a. Robert Anton Alken is not one to rest on his laurals. R&B classics uniquely counter balanced with today's chart toppers, exclusive white labels and a blend of his own electric taste - partygoers have dubbed him "the best kept secret".
Knuckles grew up in the 1980s. In harlem's grant housing project, when New York City was a major music trendsetter and hotbed. His neighbors included the likes of the Fearless Four who have developed a strong following and started to do shows. Local clubs like Harlem World and the Disco Fever were booking hip hop acts as headlines and live performances and the club scene proved to be an essential part of Knuckles development as a deejay. Notable deejays of that period such as Chevy Chase (Colo Crush), DLB (Fearless Four). D.J. Easy Lee (The Treacherous Three) were mentors and taught Knuckles valuable lessons about how this deejay could control the party vibe. Knuckles came to develop his own signature style of music play. Which included elements from his favourite deejays - the energy of Kid Capd, the vast music selection of Brucle B. and the notoriety of D.J. Hollywood. These music strengths coupled with Knuckles innate sense of rhythm and his knack for knowing what's hot on the street make him a viable mixmaster for a party in any city.
Collaborating on dates and tour all over the world, Knuckles has worked with various artists including Doug E. Fresh, Miss Jones, Lil Vicious and Mad Cobra. Frequent touring has garnered Knuckles aclaim on the International level where he is a recurring guest deejay at clubs in Paris, Sydney, Zurich and Tokyo, among other cities.
The next stage of DJ Knuckles future is a work in progress. Teaming up with his cousin / manager, Andre Robertson, Chief Executive Officer of OnPoint Entertainment / Management, Knuckles is ready to take his career to the next level. Future endeavours and interests include producing, acting, fashion, as well as maintaining his ear on the streets. For now, he is hard at work on a quest to captivate and dominate the club scene. Knuckles has rapidly developed into one of the most saught after deejays and his namesake has become synonymous with standing room only events.
